Imaging of the Optic Nerve

Imaging has become an essential component of the glaucoma examination.  We can now perform reproducible, accurate, quantitative and objective assessments of the optic nerve, nerve fiber layer and

macula.  Imaging is useful both in the anterior and posterior segments.

We will discuss the use of imaging in glaucoma, as well as the principles by which imaging technologies work.

Is imaging really of benefit to our patients for diagnosis of disease and progression of detection?  We will evaluate the current literature and attempt to answer this question.

Attached articles are required reading and will be discussed.  Some of the slides in the attached presentation will be presented.
