Dr. Yi Ning J. Strube is Director of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus, Department of Ophthalmology, Queen’s University and Hotel Dieu Hospital / Kingston Health Sciences Centre in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. She is also Assistant Professor of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus, Queen’s University.
Dr. Strube completed her medical school and ophthalmology residency training at Queen’s University, followed by her fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus with Dr. Kenneth W. Wright and the University of Southern California, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. She is both a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and a Diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Strube returned to Queen’s University after fellowship, and is actively involved in teaching medical students, and training residents in ophthalmology, pediatrics and family medicine. Dr. Strube is the current Chair of Continuing Education Committee for the Canadian Orthoptic Council.
Dr. Strube’s interests include basic science ophthalmological research, innovative strabismus surgical techniques, teaching and medical writing. She is the medical editor and author of the 3rd edition Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus textbook, Oxford University Press, and the 4th edition Color Atlas of Strabismus Surgery: Strategies and Techniques, Springer. Dr. Strube’s clinical focus includes complex pediatric and adult strabismus. She in actively involved in surgical training and wet lab curriculum design, and acts as course director and instructor of two successful strabismus wet lab courses: the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) Strabismus Wet Lab course over the past 6 years, and the Canadian Ophthalmological Society (COS) Surgical Transfer Course in Strabismus for the past 2 years.
