Introductions
During the first session of GES Boot Camp we will
1) review the structure and function of the eye
2) review the structure of the eye exam
3) briefly review the major causes of visual impairment and blindness in the US & abroad.

Afferent Testing
During the hands on session we will learn and practice the proper exam techniques necessary for students who want to hit the ground running at a GES mission. At this session we will cover afferent testing, including learn how to assess vision, check pupils, color vision and confrontation fields.

The attached slide shows are designed to give you a preview of what we'll be covering. Please review them prior to the session.
The attached PDFs are relatively recent reviews related to the incidence and causes of visual impairment and blindness in the US and worldwide. We'll spend some time reviewing the major diagnoses in preparation for Ms Staple-Clark's presentation on Feb 10
