Dr. Gushchin will present "Simbu Ptosis: High Volume Surgical Camp in the Highlands of Papua New Guinea" at UPMC Eye Center Grand Rounds on March 15 at 7 am.practices ophthalmology in Chicago at hospitals including Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital and John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Vermont and spent time on a medical exchange to Cuba. She completed her medical education at the University of Pittsburgh with a concentration in Global Health and then an Opthalmology Residency with UPMC. Dr. Gushchin went on to a fellowship in Plastic and Orbital Reconstructive Surgery at Stanford. She also completed an International Fellowship which took her to Nepal, Ghana, Ethiopia, and Papua New Guinea. She provided lectures on oculoplastics and hands-on skills transfer training for the local doctors and nurses.
