Ocular surface disease

Objectives: Upon completion of this conference the resident/student should have an understanding of ocular surface disease and be able to:

  • Discuss the diagnostic approach to Ocular Surface Disease including tear film evaluation and ocular cytology
  • Define and discuss the causes, pathophysiology, signs, symptoms and management of dry eye syndromes including:
    • Aqueous tear deficiency syndromes
    • Evaporative tear dysfunction syndromes
    • Noninflammatory vascular anomalies of the conjunctiva
    • Nutritional and physiologic disorders
    • Structural and exogenous Disorders
    • Limbal stem cell deficiency
